1. Although we tried very hard, we failed.

✅ In spite of trying very hard, we failed.

🔎 Giải thích:

• “Although” + mệnh đề → “In spite of” + danh động từ (V-ing).

• "we tried" → "trying" → giữ nghĩa không đổi.

2. Although he was very tired, he kept on working.

✅ Despite being very tired, he kept on working.

🔎 Giải thích:

• “Although he was...” → "Despite being..."

• Cấu trúc: Despite + V-ing / noun phrase

3. Despite having several broken bones, John was able to compete in the race.

✅ John was able to compete in the race even though he had several broken bones.

🔎 Giải thích:

• “Despite + V-ing...” → chuyển sang “even though + mệnh đề”

• “having several broken bones” → “he had several broken bones”

4. Although it rained heavily, my father went to work.

✅ Despite the heavy rain, my father went to work.

🔎 Giải thích:

• “Although it rained heavily” → danh từ hóa thành “the heavy rain”

• “Despite + noun” là cấu trúc chuẩn.

5. In spite of admiring Shakespeare's comedies, I cannot agree that they are any superior to his tragedies.

✅ Although I admire Shakespeare's comedies, I cannot agree that they are any superior to his tragedies.

🔎 Giải thích:

• “In spite of + V-ing” → “Although + S + V”

• “admiring” → “I admire” (chuyển về mệnh đề)
