6 - your activities
“I’d like to describe a typical working day of mine.
Because I’m a software developer, I naturally organise everything like a program:
I usually get up at four a.m.
The first thing I do is enjoying a cup of coffee.
at about 4.30
I open my laptop to check e-mails from American clients
prioritise and create atasks for my Vietnamese team.
By six o’clock that task is finished.
I wake my two children so they can get ready for school.
I take my insulin injection because I have type-two diabetes.
From six-thirty to eight I relax, maybe read tech news
from 8h ⇒ then I officially start work again.
Noon is non-negotiable:
at exactly twelve I have lunch and then take a nap until two p.m.
The afternoon shift runs from two to five ...
At five I switch from keyboard to football playing.
I play football with friends for two hours almost every weekday; it’s my favourite way to keep fit and lower my blood sugar.
Evenings are simple: dinner at a small street-food stall with my family, a bit of chatting, and lights out by ten so the whole ‘program’ can loop the next day.
Some people might think repeating the same tasks every day is boring, but for me it’s efficient and satisfying. I know exactly where my time goes and that gives me peace of mind.”_
